Chapter 1

1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints who are [in Ephesus], and to the faithful in Christ Jesus:
2 Grace and peace be given to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavens!
4 In him he chose us before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight,
5 in love he predestined us for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ, according to his own free will,
6 by displaying the glory of his grace, by which he has made us pleasing in his sight in his beloved Son.
7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace,
8 which God has poured out on us abundantly in all wisdom and understanding,
9 by making known to us the mystery of his will, according to the free plan that his goodness had set for itself,
10 to accomplish it when the fullness of time is fulfilled, namely, to unite all things in Jesus Christ, those which are in heaven and those which are on earth.
11 In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will,
12 so that we, who were the first to put our hope in Christ, might be to the praise of his glory.

13 It is in him that you yourselves, having heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, in him you believed and were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit,
14 and which is a deposit of our inheritance, pending the full redemption of those whom God has acquired, to the praise of his glory.

15 Therefore, having heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and of your love for all the saints,
16 I too do not cease to give thanks for you, and to remember you in my prayers,
17 so that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and knowledge,
18 and that he may enlighten the eyes of your heart, so that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of the glory of his inheritance reserved for the saints,
19 and what is, towards us who believe, the surpassing greatness of his power, attested by the effectiveness of his victorious force.
20 This power he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in heaven,
21 above all principality, authority, power, dominion, and anything else that can be named, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.
22 He put everything under his feet and appointed him to be head over all the church,
23 which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.

Chapter 2

1 And you were dead in your transgressions and sins,
2 in which you used to walk according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who is now working in the sons of disobedience.
3 We too all once lived like them, gratifying the cravings of our flesh and following its desires and thoughts, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest.
4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us,
5 and though we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive with Christ (it is by grace you are saved);
6 He raised us up together and seated us together in the heavens in Christ Jesus,
7 in order to show in the ages to come the infinite riches of his grace in his kindness to us in Jesus Christ.
8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith; and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God;
9 It is not by works, so that no one may boast.
10 For we are his workmanship, having been created in Christ Jesus for TO DO good works, which God prepared beforehand, so that we might do them.

11 Therefore, remember that formerly you who are Gentiles by birth and called uncircumcised by those who call themselves circumcised, And which are made in the flesh by the hand of man,
12 remember that at that time you were without Christ, outside the society of Israel, strangers to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world.
13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ.
14 For he himself is our peace, who has made the two peoples one: he has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility,
15 having repealed by the immolation of his flesh the law of ordinances with its rigorous prescriptions, in order to fuse the two into one new man, by making peace,
16 and to reconcile them both united in one body with God through the cross, destroying by it the enmity.
17 And he came to announce peace to you who were far away, and peace to those who were close;
18 For through him we both have access to the Father in one Spirit.

19 Therefore, you are no longer strangers and aliens, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God,
20 built as you are on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, of whom Christ Jesus himself is the cornerstone.
21 In him the whole building, being ordered, grows up to form a holy temple in the Lord;
22 In him you too are being built together to become a dwelling place for God by the Holy Spirit.

Chapter 3

1 For this reason I, Paul, a prisoner for Christ Jesus on behalf of you Gentiles…
2 Since you have heard of the administration of God’s grace which was given to me for you,
3. How it was through revelation that I became aware of the mystery that I have just described in a few words.
4 By reading them, you can recognize my understanding of the mystery of Christ.
5 It was not made known to men in former ages as it has been revealed in our day by the Spirit to the holy apostles and prophets of Jesus Christ.
This mystery, that is because the Gentiles are heirs with the Jews, and members of the same body, and that they share in the promise of God in Christ Jesus through the Gospel,
7 of which I became a minister according to the gift of God's grace, which was given me by his almighty power.
8 It is mine, the least of all the saints, that this grace was granted to proclaim among the Gentiles the incomprehensible riches of Christ,
9 and to make plain to all the economy of the mystery which had been hidden from the beginning in God, the Creator of all things,
10 so that the principalities and powers in heaven may now be made known, in the sight of the church, the manifold wisdom of God,
11 according to the eternal plan which he accomplished through Jesus Christ our Lord,
12 in whom, through faith in him, we have boldness to approach God with confidence.
13 Therefore I beg you not to be discouraged because of the afflictions I am suffering for you: they are your glory.

14 For this reason I kneel before the Father,
15 From whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name,
16 that he may grant you, according to the treasures of his glory, to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being,
17 and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, so that, being rooted and grounded in charity,
18 you became able to understand with all the saints What are the width and length, depth and height?,
19 even to know the love of Christ, which surpasses knowledge, so that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

20 To him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us,
21 To Him be glory in the Church and in Jesus Christ, throughout all ages, forever and ever! Amen!

Chapter 4

1 I therefore urge you, a prisoner in the Lord, to live a life worthy of the calling to which you have been called,
2 in all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in charity,
3 striving to maintain the unity of the spirit through the bond of peace.
4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to the same hope when you were called.
5 There is only one Lord, one faith, one baptism,
6 one God, Father of all, who is above all, who acted by all, who East in all.

7 But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift.
8 This is why it is said: »He ascended on high, he led captives in his train, and he gave gifts to men.« 
9 Now what does it mean that he went up, except that he had descended [first] into the lower regions of the earth?
10 He who descended is the very one who ascended above all the heavens, in order to fill them all.
11 He also made some apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers,
12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the building up of the body of Christ,
13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God, becoming mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ,
14 so that we may no longer be children, tossed back and forth by the waves and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people to lead astray;
15 but that, confessing the truth, we should continue to grow in every respect in charity in union with the one who is the head, Christ.
16 From him the whole body, coordinated and united by the bonds of its members who lend each other mutual assistance and each of whom operates according to its capacity for activity, grows and is perfected in charity.

17 So this is what I say and declare in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the Gentiles do, following the vanity of their thoughts.
18 Their understanding is darkened, And are separated from the life of God by the ignorance and blindness of their hearts.
19 Having lost all sense, they gave themselves over to disorder and all kinds of impurity, with an insatiable zeal.
20 But that is not how you came to know Christ,
21 if, however, you have understood it well, and have been taught according to the truth that is in Jesus,
22 to put off your old self, which belongs to your former way of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires,
23 to renew yourselves in your minds and thoughts,
24 and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

25 Therefore, putting away falsehood, speak the truth, each in his dealings with his neighbor, for we are members one of another.
26 »Are you angry? Do not sin; do not let the sun go down while you are still angry.».
27 Do not give the devil access either.

28 Let the thief no longer steal, but rather let him occupy himself by working with his hands in some honest work, that he may have something to give to the one in need.

29 Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as the need arises, that it may benefit those who listen.
30 Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

31 Let all bitterness, animosity, anger, clamor, slander, and malice be banished from among you.
32 Be kind and merciful to one another, forgiving one another, just as in Christ God forgave you.

Chapter 5

1 Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children;
2 and walk in charity, following the example of Christ, who loved us and gave himself up for us as an offering and a sacrifice to God, a pleasing aroma.

3 Let no one even hear that there is fornication among you, or of any kind of impurity, or of lust, as is proper among saints.
4 No filthy talk, no foolish talk, no crude joking, which are out of place; but rather thanksgiving.
5 For you may be sure of this, that no immoral person, no impure person, no greedy person (who is an idolater), has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.
6 Let no one deceive you with empty words; for because of these vices the wrath of God comes upon the sons of unbelief.
7 Therefore, have no part with them.

8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord: walk as children of light.
9 For the fruit of the light consists in all that is good, just, and true.
10 Examine what is pleasing to the Lord;
11 and take no part in the fruitless works of darkness, but rather expose them.
12 For what they do in secret, one is ashamed even to mention;
13 But all these abominations, once condemned, are made manifest by the light; for everything that is brought to light is light.
14 Therefore it is said: »Awake, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.« 

15 Therefore be careful, [my [Brothers], to conduct yourselves with prudence, not as fools,
16 But like wise men, redeem the time, because the days are evil.
17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what is the will of the Lord.
18 Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit.Saint.
19 Speak to one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making music in your hearts to the Lord.
20 Give thanks continually for all things to God the Father, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

21 Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.
22 That women be submissive to their husbands, as to the Lord;
23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the Church, his body, of which he is the Savior.
24 Now, just as the Church is subject to Christ, women must be submissive to their husbands in all things.

25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her,
26 to sanctify her, having cleansed her in the waters of baptism, by the word,
27 to present her to himself, the Church, glorious, without stain, without wrinkle or any such thing, but holy and blameless.
28 In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.
29 For no one ever hated their own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church,
30 because we are members of his body, [formed  »"of his flesh and bones."
31 »That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and the two become one flesh.« 
32 This mystery is great; I mean, in relation to Christ and the Church.
33 Moreover, each one of you must love his wife as himself, and the wife must respect her husband.

Chapter 6

1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.
2. »Honor your father and your mother”—this is the first commandment, along with a promise.
3 so that you may be happy and live long on the earth.« 
4 And you, fathers, do not exasperate your children, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

5 Servants, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ.,
6 not only ministering while they are watching, as if to please men, but as servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart.
7 Serve them with affection, as serving the Lord, and not men,
8 assured that each one, whether slave or free, will be rewarded by the Lord for whatever good he has done.

9 And you, masters, treat them in the same way and leave off threats, knowing that their Lord and yours is in the heavens and that He shows no partiality.

10 Finally, brothers, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.
11 Put on the armor of God, so that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.
12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil. widespread in the air.
13 Therefore put on the armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and having done everything, to stand.
14 Therefore, stand firm, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,
15 and with sandals on their feet, ready to proclaim the Gospel of peace.
16 And above all, take up the shield of faith, with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the Evil One.
17 Take also the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
18 Pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. To this end, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints,
19 and for me, that it may be given me to open my lips and to preach with freedom the mystery of the Gospel,
20 in respect of which I act as ambassador in the chains, and so that I may speak of it with assurance as is fitting.

21 As for my own affairs and my actions, Tychicus, the beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord, will tell you everything.
22 I am sending it to you expressly, so that you may know our situation and so that it may comfort your hearts.

23 Peace to the brothers, love and faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ!
24 Grace be with all those who love Our Lord Jesus Christ with an incorruptible love.
