Chapter 1
1 Paul, a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to preach the faith to God's elect and to make known the truth that leads to godliness,
2 and gives the hope of eternal life, promised from the earliest times by the God who does not lie,
3 and who manifested his word in its proper time through the preaching entrusted to me according to the command of God our Savior, —
4 to Tite, my true child in the faith which we have in common, grace and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Savior.
5 I left you in Crete so that you might finish organizing everything, and that, according to the instructions I gave you, you might appoint Elders in every city.
6 Let the subject be of an unblemished reputation, the husband of one wife, whose children are faithful, and not considered to be debauched or disobedient.
7 For the overseer of the house of God must be above reproach; he must not be arrogant, quick-tempered, given to wine, prone to striking, or greedy for dishonest gain;
8 but let him be hospitable, zealous for what is good, circumspect, just, holy, master of his passions,
9 firmly holding to the doctrine which he was taught, so that he may be able to exhort according to sound doctrine and to refute those who contradict it.
10 For there are many insubordinate people, especially among the circumcised, who are vain talkers and deceivers. souls.
11 We must shut the mouths of those people who disrupt entire families, and who teach, for a vile interest, what should not be taught.
12 One of their own people, a prophet of their own, said: »Cretans are always liars, wicked beasts, lazy gluttons.«
13 This testimony is true. Therefore, rebuke them sharply, so that they may be sound in the faith,
14 and that they do not listen to Jewish myths and the commandments of people who turn away from the truth.
15 To the pure, all things are pure; but to those who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure; on the contrary, their spirit is defiled, as is their conscience.
16 They profess to know God, and they deny him by their deeds, being abominable, disobedient and unfit for any good work.
Chapter 2
1 As for you, speak in accordance with sound doctrine.
2 Say to the elderly to be sober, serious, circumspect, sound in faith, in charity, in patience;
3. Likewise, older women should display holy modesty in their dress; they should not be slanderers or prone to excessive drinking; but wise counselors,
4 capable of teaching young women to love their husbands and children;
5 to be self-controlled, chaste, busy at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, so that the word of God may not be exposed to any reproach.
6 Likewise, exhort the young men to be wise,
7 showing yourself in all respects an example of good works, putting purity and seriousness into your teaching,
8 sound and blameless speech, so as to confound our adversaries who will have no difficulty in saying about us.
9 To the slaves, recommended to be submissive to their masters, to please them in all things, and not to contradict them,
10 not to turn aside, but to show perfect faithfulness always, so as to honor in all things the doctrine of God our Savior.
11 For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all people;
12 It teaches us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age,
13 while we wait for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ,
14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.
15 This is what you must preach, recommend, and assert with full authority. Let no one despise you.
Chapter 3
1 Reminds the faithful of their duty to be submissive to magistrates and authorities, to obey them, and to be ready for every good work,
2. To speak ill of no one, to avoid disputes, but to be condescending, and to show the greatest gentleness towards all men.
3 For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to all kinds of passions and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another.
4 But when God our Savior displayed his kindness and love for mankind,
5 He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit.,
6 which he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior,
7 so that, justified by his grace, we might become heirs of eternal life according to our hope.
8 This is a trustworthy saying, and I want you to emphasize these things, so that those who believe in God may be careful to be the first in doing what is good. This is what is good and beneficial for everyone.
9 As for foolish questions, genealogies, quarrels, disputes about the Law, avoid them, for they are unprofitable and vain.
10 As for the one who stirs up divisions, after a first and a second warning, remove him from your presence.,
11 knowing that such a man is completely corrupt, and a sinner condemned by his own judgment.
12 When I have sent Artemas or Tychicus to you, hurry to come and join me at Nicopolis, for I have decided to spend the winter there.
13 Make careful arrangements for the journey of Zenas, the doctor of the law, and of Apollos, so that nothing is lacking for them.
14 Moreover, let our people also learn to devote themselves to good works, so as to provide for urgent needs, so that they may not be unfruitful.
15 All those who are with me greet you; greet those who love us in the faith.
Grace be with you all. Amen!
