Psalm 107 (Vulg. CVI)
1 Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good,
for his mercy is eternal.
2. What’Thus say the redeemed of Yahweh,
those whom he redeemed from the hands of the enemy,
3 and that he has gathered from all the countries,
from the East and the West,
from the north and the sea!
4 They wandered in the desert, on a lonely road,
without finding a city to live in.
5. Plagued by hunger, to thirst,
They felt their souls failing.
6 In their distress they cried out to Yahweh,
and he delivered them from their anguish.
7 He led them along the right path,
to bring them to a habitable city.
8 Let them praise Yahweh for his goodness,
and for his wonders in favor of the son of man.
9 For he has quenched the thirst of the thirsty soul,
and filled the hungry soul with good things.
10 They dwelt in darkness and in the shadow of death,
prisoners in suffering and in chains.
11 Because they had rebelled against the oracles of God,
and that they had scorned the counsel of the Most High,
12 He humbled their hearts with suffering;
They collapsed, and no one THE rescued.
13 In their distress they cried out to Yahweh,
and he saved them from their anguish.
14 He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death,
and he broke their chains.
15 Let them praise Yahweh for his goodness,
and for his wonders in favor of the sons of men.
16 For he has broken down the bronze gates
and smashed the iron locks to pieces.
17 The fools! by their criminal conduct,
and by their iniquities, they had brought suffering upon themselves.
18 Their souls abhorred all food,
and they were touching the gates of death.
19 In their distress they cried out to Yahweh,
and he saved them from their anguish.
20 He sent his word and healed them,
and he brought them out of their tombs.
21 Let them praise Yahweh for his goodness,
and for his wonders in favor of the sons of men!
22 Let them offer sacrifices of thanksgiving,
and that they publish his works with cries of joy!
23 They had gone down to the sea in ships,
to trade on the vast waters:
24 — These are the ones who have seen the works of Yahweh,
and its wonders in the midst of the abyss —
25 He spoke, and he raised a stormy wind,
which raised the waves of the sea.
26 They ascended to the heavens, they descended into the depths;
Their souls were failing in grief.
27 Seized with dizziness, they staggered like a drunken man,
and all their wisdom was destroyed.
28 In their distress they cried out to Yahweh,
and he delivered them from their anguish.
29 He changed the hurricane into a gentle breeze,
and the waves of the sea They fell silent.
30 They rejoiced when they saw them at peace,
and Yahweh led them to the desired port.
31 Let them praise Yahweh for his goodness,
and for his wonders in favor of the sons of men!
32 Let them exalt him in the assembly of the people,
and let them celebrate it in the council of elders!
33 He turned the rivers into a desert,
and water sources in arid soil;
34 The fertile land in the salt plain,
because of the wickedness of its inhabitants.
35 He made the desert into a pool of water,
and from the arid land a soil full of springs.
36 He put the hungry there,
and they founded a city to inhabit.
37 They sowed fields and planted vineyards,
and they reaped abundant harvests.
38 He blessed them, and they multiplied greatly,
and he did not allow their flocks to decrease.
39 They had been reduced to a small number and humiliated,
under the weight of misfortune and suffering.
40 He had spread shame upon their princes,
He had made them wander in deserts without paths.
41 But he lifted the poor man out of his misery,
and he made families like flocks.
42 The upright see it and rejoice,
And all the wicked ones shut their mouths.
43 Let the wise take heed to these things,
and that he may understand the goodness of Yahweh!
Psalm 108 (Vulg. CVII)
1 Song. A Psalm of David.
2 My heart is steadfast, O God,
I will sing and make resound happy instruments.
Arise, my glory!
3 Awake, my lyre and my harp!
Let me awaken the dawn!
4 I will praise you among the peoples, Yahweh,
I will sing to you among the nations.
5 For your goodness is higher than the heavens,
and your loyalty to the heavens.
6 Rise above the heavens, O God;
that your glory shines across the whole world!
7 So that your beloved ones may be delivered,
Save me with your right hand and answer me.
8 God has spoken in his holiness: »I will rejoice greatly!”
I will have Shechem as my portion, I will measure out the valley of Succoth.
9 Gilead is mine, Manasseh is mine;
Ephraim is the armor of my head,
and Judas, my scepter.
10 Moab is the basin where I wash myself;
I throw my sandal at Edom;
"In the land of the Philistines I shout for joy."«
11 Who will lead me to the fortified city!
Who will lead me to Edom?
12 Is it not you, O God, who rejected us,
O God, who no longer went out with our armies?
13 Lend us your help against the oppressor!
Human assistance is but vanity.
14 With God we will accomplish great things;
He will crush our enemies.
Psalm 109 (Vulg. CVIII)
1 To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David.
God of my praise, do not remain silent!
2 For the mouth of the wicked, the mouth of the treacherous, opens open against me.
They speak against me with a lying tongue.,
3 They besiege me with hateful words,
and they make me the war without reason.
4 In return for my affection, they fight me,
And I, I do nothing but pray.
5 They repay me evil for good,
and hatred for love.
6 Put it in the power of a villain,
and let the accuser stand on his right!
7 When he is judged, let him come out guilty,
and may his prayer be renowned fishing !
8 May his days be shortened,
and let someone else take on the responsibility!
9. That her children become orphans,
that his wife is a widow!
10 Let his children be vagrants and beggars,
looking their bread far from their ruined homes!
11 Let the creditor take possession of everything that belongs to him,
and that foreigners plunder what he earned by his work!
12 That he has no one to cherish his affection,
that no one should have pity on his orphans!
13 May his descendants be doomed to ruin,
and that their name be erased in the second generation!
14 May the iniquity of his fathers be remembered before the Lord,
and that the sin of their mother may not be erased!
15 May they always be before Yahweh,
and that he may erase their memory from the earth!
16 Because he did not remember to exercise mercy,
because he persecuted the unfortunate and the needy,
and the broken-hearted man to kill him.
17 He loved the curse: it fell upon him;
He scorned the blessing: it is moving away from him.
18 He has clothed himself with the curse as with a garment;
Like water, it enters into him,
and like oil she penetrates in his bones.
19 Let it be for him the garment that envelops him,
the belt that keeps wrapping around him!
20 This is the reward from Yahweh for my adversaries,
and those who speak maliciously against me.
21 And you, Lord Yahweh,
defend me because of your name;
In your great goodness, deliver me.
22 For I am wretched and needy,
and my heart is wounded inside me.
23 I am departing like a shadow in its decline,
I am carried away like a grasshopper.
24 From fasting my knees are shaky,
and my body is exhausted from being so thin.
25 I am for them a object of disgrace;
They look at me and nod their heads.
26 Help me, Yahweh, my God!
Save me in your goodness!
27 Let them know that it is your hand,
that it is you, Yahweh, who did it!
28 They will curse, but you will bless;
They rise up, but they will be confounded.,
and your servant will be in joy.
29 My adversaries will be clothed in disgrace,
They will be enveloped in their shame as in a cloak.
30 My lips will praise Yahweh highly;
I will celebrate it in the midst of the multitude;
31 for he stands at the right hand of the poor,
to save him from those who condemn him.
Psalm 110 (Vulg. CIX)
1 Psalm of David.
Yahweh said to my Lord:
»Sit at my right,
until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.«
2 Yahweh will extend your mighty scepter from Zion:
Reign supreme in the midst of your enemies!
3 Your people will hasten to you on the day when you gather your army,
with sacred ornaments;
From the womb of dawn comes to you
the dew of your young warriors.
4 The Lord has sworn, he will not repent:
»"You are a priest forever"
in the manner of Melchizedek.«
5 The Lord is on the right,
He will crush kings on the day of his wrath.
6 He exercises his judgment among the nations:
The whole place is filled with corpses;
He is crushing the heads of the entire world.
7 He drinks from the stream on the way,
That's why he raises his head.

He pulls the poor man out of the dung heap.,

2 Judah became his sanctuary,
Israel is his domain.
3 The sea THE lives and flees,
the Jordan turned back;
4 The mountains leaped like rams,
the hills like lambs.
5 What is wrong, sea, that makes you flee?
Jourdain, to go back?
6 What's wrong?, mountains, to leap like rams,
And you, hills, like lambs?
7 Tremble, O earth, before the face of the Lord,
before the face of the God of Jacob,
8, which transforms the rock into a pond,
the rock as a source of water.
Psalm 115 (Vulg. CXIII)
1 Not to us, Yahweh, not to us,
But give glory to your name.,
because of your kindness, because of your faithfulness!
2 Why should the nations say:
«"Where is their God?"»
3 Our God is in heaven;
He does whatever he wants.
4 Their idols are silver and gold,
work of human hands.
5 They have a mouth, but do not speak;
They have eyes, but they do not see.
6 They have ears, but do not hear;
They have nostrils, but they don't smell.
7 They have hands, but they do not touch;
They have feet, but they do not walk;
They make no sound from their throats.
8 Let those who make them resemble them,
and anyone who confides in them!
9 Israel, put your trust in Yahweh!

Psalm 116 (Vulg. CXIV and CXV)

2 For he inclined his ear to me,
And all my life, I will invoke him.
3 The bonds of death surrounded me,
and the anguish of Sheol had seized me;
I was in the grip of distress and affliction.
4 And I called upon the name of Yahweh:
«"Yahweh, save my soul!"»
5 Yahweh is merciful and just,
Our God is compassionate.
6 Yahweh protects the weak;
I was unhappy, and he saved me.

«"Every man is a liar."»

Yahweh answered my prayer. and put me offshore.
6 Yahweh is for me; I will not be afraid:
What can men do to me?
7 Yahweh is among those who help me;
I'll see the ruin of those who hate me.
8 It is better to seek refuge in Yahweh,
than to confide in men.
9 It is better to seek refuge in Yahweh,
than to confide in princes.
10 All nations surrounded me:
In the name of Yahweh, I cut them to pieces.
11 They surrounded and enveloped me:
In the name of Yahweh, I cut them to pieces.
12 They surrounded me like bees:
they die out like a fire of thorns;
In the name of Yahweh, I cut them to pieces.
13 You pushed me violently to make me fall,
But Yahweh helped me.
14 Yahweh is my strength and the object of my songs;
He was my salvation.
15 Cries of triumph and deliverance resound
in the tents of the righteous.
The right hand of Yahweh has displayed its strength;
16 The right hand of Yahweh is exalted,
Yahweh's right hand has displayed its strength.
17 I will not die, I will live,
and I will recount the works of Yahweh.
18 Yahweh has severely punished me,
But he did not hand me over to my death.
The chief arrived in front of the temple.
19 Open for me the gates of justice,
so that I may enter and praise Yahweh.
The priests.
20 This is the gate of Yahweh;
the righteous can enter it.
The leader of the people.
21 I will praise you, because you have answered me,
and that you were my salvation.

We bless you from the house of Yahweh!
27 Yahweh is God, he makes the light shine upon us.
The priests, to the people.
Tie the victim down with restraints.,
up to the horns of the altar.
The people.
28 You are my God, and I will praise you;
my God, and I will exalt you.
All together.
29 Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good,

51 The proud lavish their mockery upon me:
I do not deviate from your law.
52 I think of your precepts of times past,
Yahweh, and I am comforted.
53 Indignation seizes me because of the wicked,
who abandon your law.
54 Your laws are the subject of my songs,
in the place of my pilgrimage.
55 At night I remember your name, Yahweh,
And I obey your law.
56 Here is the portion that I’is given :
I'm keeping your prescriptions.
HETH.

so that I may learn your precepts.
72 The law from your mouth is better for me;
heaps of gold and silver.
YOD.

Give me the understanding to learn your commandments.
74 Those who fear you will rejoice when they see me,
because I trust in your word.

It is in your loyalty that you have humiliated me.
76 May your goodness be my consolation,
according to your word data to your servant!
77 May your compassion come upon me, and may I live,
for your law is my delight!
78 May the proud who unjustly mistreat me be confounded!
I, for one, meditate on your precepts.
79 Let those who fear you turn to me,
and those who know your teachings!
80 May my heart be entirely devoted to your laws,
so that I am not confused!
CAPH.
81 My soul longs for your salvation,
I trust in your word.
82 My eyes long for your promise,
I say, "When will you comfort me?"«
83 For I am like a wineskin exposed to the smoke,
But I haven't forgotten your laws.
84 What is the number days of your servant?
When will you bring justice to those who are persecuting me?
85 Proud people dig pits for me lose ;
They are the opponents of your law.

They are persecuting me without cause: help me.

and I will observe the teaching from your mouth.
LAMED.

I would have already perished in my misery.

because it is through them that you gave me back my life.
94 I am yours: save me,
because I am seeking your precepts.

That's why I love your teachings.
120 My flesh trembles with fear before you,
And I dread your judgments.
AÏN.
121 I observe law and justice:
Do not abandon me to my oppressors.
122 Take under your guarantee the property of your servant;
And may the proud not oppress me!
123 My eyes long for your salvation,
and after the promise of your justice.
124 Deal with your servant according to your goodness,
and teach me your laws.
125 I am your servant: give me understanding,
so that I may know your teachings.
126 It is time for Yahweh to intervene:
They are violating your law.
127 That is why I love your commandments,
more than gold and fine gold.
128 That is why I find all your prescriptions just,
I hate every path of lies.
PHÉ.
129 Your teachings are wonderful,
My soul also observes them.
130 The revelation of your words illuminates,
It gives intelligence to the simple.
131 I open my mouth and inhale,
because I long for your commandments.
132 Turn your face towards me and have mercy on me;
It is justice towards those who love your name.
133 Firm my steps in your word,
and let no iniquity have dominion over me.
134 Deliver me from the oppression of men,
and I will keep your prescriptions.
135 Let your face shine upon your servant,
and teach me your laws.
136 My eyes shed torrents of tears,
because we are not obeying your law.
TSADÉ.
137 You are righteous, Yahweh,
and your judgments are fair.
138 You have taught your teachings according to justice
and perfect fidelity.
139 My zeal consumes me,
because my adversaries forget your words.
140 Your word is entirely tested,
and your servant loves him.
141 I am small and despised;
but I do not forget your prescriptions.
142 Your justice is an eternal justice,
And your law is truth.
143 Distress and anguish have overtaken me;
Your commandments are my delight.
144 Your teachings are eternally right;
Give me intelligence, so that I may live.
QOPH.
145 I call upon you with all my heart; answer me, Yahweh,
so that I may keep your laws.
146 I call upon you, save me,
so that I may observe your teachings.
147 I rise before dawn, and I cry out towards you ;
I trust in your word.
148 My eyes are ahead of the vigils of the night,
to meditate on your word.
149 Listen to my voice according to your goodness;
Yahweh, restore me to life according to your judgment.
150 They approach, those who pursue crime,
who have strayed from your law.
151 You are near, Yahweh,
and all your commandments are truth.
152 I have long known about your teachings,
that you have established them forever.
RESCUE.
153 See my misery, and deliver me,
because I do not forget your law.
154 Defend my cause and be my avenger,
Give me back my life according to your word.
155 Salvation is far from the wicked,
because they don't care about your laws.
156 Your mercies are many, Yahweh;
Give me back my life according to your judgments.
157 Many are my persecutors and my enemies;
I do not deviate from your teachings.
158 At the sight of the infidels, I felt horror,
because they do not observe your word.
159 Consider that I love your ordinances;
Yahweh, restore me to life according to your goodness.
160 The summary of your word is the truth,
and all your laws of justice are eternal.
SIN, SCHIN.
161 Princes are persecuting me without cause:
It is your words that my heart fears.
162 I rejoice in your word,
as if I had found rich spoils.
163 I hate lying, I abhor it;
I like your law.
164 Sept times by day I praise you,
because of the laws of your justice.
165 There is great peace for those who love your law,
and nothing causes them to fall.
166 I hope in your salvation, Yahweh,
and I practice your commandments.
167 My soul observes your teachings,
And she is in love with him.
168 I keep your ordinances and your teachings,
for all my ways are before you.
THAV.
169 May my cry reach you, Yahweh!
According to your word, give me understanding.
170 May my supplication reach you!
According to your word, deliver me.
171 That my lips utter your praise,
because you taught me your laws!
172 Let my tongue proclaim your word,
for all your commandments are just!
173 May your hand extends to rescue me,
Because I chose your prescriptions!
174 I long for your salvation, Yahweh,
and your law is my delight.
175 May my soul live to praise you,
and may your judgments help me!
176 I am wandering like a lost sheep: seek your servant;
because I do not forget your commandments.
Psalm 120 (Vulg. CXIX)
1 Song of Ascents.
To Yahweh, in my distress,
I cried out, and he answered my prayer:
2 «Yahweh, deliver my soul from the lips of lies,
"Clever language!"»
3 What will be given to you, what will be your gain,
Treacherous tongue?
4 The sharp arrows of the All-Powerful,
with the burning coals of the broom.
5. How unfortunate I am to be staying in Mesek,
to live in Cedar's tents!
6 I have remained too long
with those who hate peace.
7 I am a man of peace and, when I speak to them,
they are for the war.
Psalm 121 (Vulg. CXX)
1 A hymn for the ascents.
I look up at the mountains:
Where will my help come from?
2 My help will come from Yahweh,
who made heaven and earth.
3 He will not allow your foot to stumble;
He who watches over you will not sleep.
4 No, he neither slumbers nor sleeps,
the one who guards Israel.
5 Yahweh is your guardian;
Yahweh is your refuge., always to your right.
6 During the day the sun will not strike you,
nor the moon during the night.
7 Yahweh will keep you from all harm,
He will keep your soul:
8 Yahweh will watch over your going out and your coming in
now and forever.
Psalm 122 (Vulg. CXXI)
1 A song of ascents. Of David.
I was in joy when I was told:
«Let us go to the house of Yahweh!»
2 Finally ! Our feet stop
At your gates, Jerusalem!
3 Jerusalem, you are built like a city
where everything fits together.
4 The tribes go up there,
the tribes of Yahweh,
according to Israeli law,
to praise the name of Yahweh.
5 There are seats for judgment,
the seats of the house of David.
6. Make vows for Jerusalem:
May those who love you be happy!
7 That peace reign within your walls,
Prosperity in your palaces!
8 For the sake of my brothers and friends,
I ask for peace for you;
9 because of the house of Yahweh our God,
I wish you happiness.
Psalm 123 (Vulg. CXXII)
1 Song of Ascents.
I raise my eyes to you,
O you who sit in the heavens!
2 As the eye of a servant is fixed on the hand of his master,
and the servant's eye on her mistress's hand,
thus our eyes are fixed on Yahweh, our God,
until he takes pity on us.
3 Have mercy on us, Yahweh, have mercy on us,
because we have already had our fill of reproaches.
4 Our soul has been more than satiated
from the mockery of the proud, from the contempt of the arrogant.
Psalm 124 (Vulg. CXXIII)
1 A song of ascents. Of David.
If Yahweh had not been on our side,
— that Israel proclaim it, —
2 if Yahweh had not been on our side,
when men rose up against us!…
3 They would have devoured us alive,
when their anger was kindled against us;
4. The waters would have engulfed us,
the torrent would have passed over our soul;
5 would have passed over our souls
the rushing waters.
6 Blessed be Yahweh,
who did not deliver us to their teeth!
7 Our soul, like the sparrow, has escaped from the fowler's snare;
The net was broken, and we were delivered.
8 Our help is in the name of Yahweh,
who made the heavens and the earth.
Psalm 125 (Vulg. CXXIV)
1 Song of Ascents.
Those who trust in Yahweh are like Mount Zion:
It does not waver; it is established forever.
2 Jerusalem has around it a belt of mountains:
Thus Yahweh surrounds his people.,
from now on and forever.
3 The scepter of the wicked will not remain on the inheritance of the righteous,
so that the righteous do not also turn their hands toward iniquity.
4 Yahweh, shower your mercy on the good,
and on those who have a righteous heart.
5 But as for those who turn aside into crooked ways,
May Yahweh abandon them with those who do evil!
Peace be upon Israel!
Psalm 126 (Vulg. CXXV)
1 Song of Ascents.
When Yahweh restored the captives of Zion,
It was like a dream to us.
2 Then our mouths uttered joyful cries,
our language, songs of joy.
Then it was repeated among the nations:
«Yahweh has done great things for them.»
3 Yes, Yahweh has done great things for us;
we are in joy.
4 Yahweh, restore our captives,
as you sink the torrents in the Negev.
5 Those who sow in tears,
They will reap with joy.
6 They go, they go weeping,
carrying and scattering the seed;
They will return with cries of joy.,
carrying sheaves of their harvest.
Psalm 127 (Vulg. CXXVI)
1 A song of ascents. Of Solomon.
If Yahweh does not build the house,
Those who build it work in vain;
if Yahweh does not protect the city,
In vain the sentinel watches at its gates.
2 It is in vain that you rise before daybreak,
and that you are delaying your rest,
eating the bread of sorrow:
he in gives as much to his beloved while he sleeps.
3 Behold, this is an inheritance from Yahweh, that the children;
a reward, that the fruits of a breast fruitful.
4 Like arrows in the hand of a warrior,
Such are the sons of youth.
5 Blessed is the man who has filled his quiver with them!
They will not blush when they answer
to the enemy, at the gate of the city.
Psalm 128 (Vulg. CXXVII)
1 Song of Ascents.
Blessed is the man who fears Yahweh,
who walks in his own ways!
2 You then eat the fruit of your labor;
You are happy and blessed with possessions.
3 Your wife is like a fruitful vine,
inside your house;
your sons, like young olive trees,
around your table.
4 This is how he will be blessed
the man who fears Yahweh.
5 May Yahweh bless you from Zion!
May you see Jerusalem flourishing
every day of your life!
6 May you see your children's children!
That peace either on Israel!
Psalm 129 (Vulg. CXXVIII)
1 Song of Ascents.
They cruelly oppressed me from my youth,
— Let Israel say so! —
2 They cruelly oppressed me from my youth,
but they did not prevail against me.
3 They plowed my back,
They carved long furrows there.
4 But Yahweh is just:
He cut the bonds of the villains.
5 Let them be confused and fall back,
all those who hate Zion!
6 Let them be like the grass on the rooftops,
which dries before it is pulled up.
7 The reaper does not fill his hand with it,
nor the one who binds the sheaves, his lap;
8 and the passers-by do not say:
«"May the blessing of Yahweh be upon you!"»
— «We bless you in the name of Yahweh.»
Psalm 130 (Vulg. CXXIX)
1 Song of Ascents.
From the depths of the abyss I cry out to you, Yahweh.
2 Lord, hear my voice;
that your ears are attentive
to the strains of my prayer!
3 If you keep the memory of iniquity, Yahweh,
Lord, who can stand?
4 But with you is forgiveness,
so that you may be revered.
5 I hope in Yahweh; my soul hopes,
And I await his word.
6 My soul aspire after the Lord
more than the lookouts do not aspire after dawn.
7 Israel, put your hope in Yahweh!
For with Yahweh is mercy,
With him came an abundant deliverance.
8 He is the one who will redeem Israel
of all his iniquities.
Psalm 131 (Vulg. CXXX)
1 A song of ascents. Of David.
Yahweh, my heart has not been proud,
and my gaze was not haughty.
I am not looking for great things,
nor what is higher than me.
2 No! I keep my soul in calm and silence.
Like a child weaned at its mother's breast,
Like a weaned child, my soul is within me.
3 Israel, put your hope in Yahweh!
Now and forever!
Psalm 132 (Vulg. CXXXI)
1 Song of Ascents.
Remember, Yahweh, David,
of all his troubles!
2 He swore this oath to Yahweh,
this vow at Jacob's Fort:
3 «I will not enter the tent where I live,
I will not climb onto the bed where I am resting;
4 I will grant no sleep to my eyes,
nor any drowsiness in my eyelids,
5 until I have found a place for Yahweh,
a dwelling for Jacob's Fort.»
6 We heard that she is in Ephrathah;
We found it in the fields of Jaar.
7 Let us go to the tabernacle of Yahweh,
Let us prostrate ourselves before the footstool of his feet.
8 Arise, Yahweh, come to your resting place,
you and your majesty's ark!
9 Let your priests be clothed with righteousness,
and let your faithful ones shout for joy!
10 For the sake of David, your servant,
Do not reject the face of your Anointed One!
11 Yahweh swore to David the truth,
He will not part with it:
«"This is from the fruit of your womb,
that I will place on your throne.
12 If your sons keep my covenant,
and the precepts that I will teach them,
their sons too, forevermore.,
will be seated on your throne.»
13 For Yahweh has chosen Zion,
He desired it for his home.
14 «This is the place of my rest forever;
I will live there, because I have desired it.
15 I will shower rich blessings upon his sustenance,
I will fill her poor with bread.
16 I will clothe her priests with salvation,
and his faithful will shout for joy.
17 There I will increase the power of David,
I will prepare a torch for my Anointed One.
18 I will clothe his enemies with shame,
and on its forehead "Her diadem will shine brightly."»
Psalm 133 (Vulg. CXXXII)
1 A song of ascents. Of David.
Ah! How good it is, how sweet it is
for brothers to live together!
2 It is like precious oil which, widespread on the head,
drips down the beard, down Aaron's beard,
which falls down over the edge of his garment.
3 It's like the dew of Hermon,
which descends onto the peaks of Sion.
For it is there that Yahweh has established the blessing,
Life, forever.
Psalm 134 (Vulg. CXXXIII)
1 Song of Ascents.
Therefore, bless Yahweh,
all of you, servants of Yahweh,
who serve in the house of Yahweh,
during the nights!…
2 Lift up your hands toward the sanctuary,
and bless Yahweh.
3 May Yahweh bless you from Zion,
He who made the heavens and the earth!
Psalm 135 (Vulg. CXXXIV)
1 Alleluia.
Praise the name of Yahweh,
rent-THE, servants of Yahweh,
2 you who serve in the house of Yahweh,
in the courts of the house of our God.
3 Praise Yahweh, for Yahweh is good;
Sing his name on the harp, for he is full of sweetness.
4 For Yahweh has chosen Jacob,
he chose himself Israel for to do his legacy.
5 Yes, I know, Yahweh is great,
our Lord East above all the gods.
6 Whatever the Lord wills, he does,
in heaven and on earth,
in the sea and in all the abysses.
7 He makes the clouds rise from the ends of the earth,
It produces lightning with the rain.,
He draws the wind from his treasures.
8 He struck long ago the firstborn of Egypt,
from man to animal.
9 He performed signs and wonders
in your midst, O Egypt,
against Pharaoh and all his servants.
10 He struck down many nations,
and put powerful kings to death:
11 Sihon, king of the Amorites,
Og, king of Bashan,
and all the kings of Canaan.
12 And he gave their land as an inheritance,
as an inheritance to Israel, his people.
13 Yahweh, your name endures forever;
Yahweh, your memory endures from age to age.
14 For Yahweh will do justice to his people,
and he has compassion for his servants.
15 The idols of the nations are silver and gold,
work of human hands.
16 They have a mouth but do not speak;
They have eyes but cannot see.
17 They have ears but do not hear;
There isn't even a breath in their mouths.
18 Let those who make them resemble them,
whoever trusts in them!
19 House of Israel, bless Yahweh!
House of Aaron, bless Yahweh!
20 House of Levi, bless Yahweh!
You who fear Yahweh, bless Yahweh!
21 Blessed be Yahweh from Zion,
who lives in Jerusalem!
Hallelujah!
Psalm 136 (Vulg. CXXXV)
1 Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good,
for his mercy is eternal.
2. Celebrate the God of gods,
for his mercy is eternal.
3. Celebrate the Lord of lords,
for his mercy is eternal.
4 To him who alone performs great wonders,
for his mercy is eternal.
5 Who made the heavens in wisdom,
for his mercy is eternal.
6 Who spread out the earth upon the waters,
for his mercy is eternal.
7 Who made the large light fixtures,
for his mercy is eternal.
8 The sun to dominate the day,
for his mercy is eternal.
9 The moon and the stars to rule over the night,
for his mercy is eternal.
10 To him who struck down the firstborn of Egypt,
for his mercy is eternal.
11 He brought Israel out from among them,
for his mercy is eternal.
12 With a strong hand and an outstretched arm,
for his mercy is eternal.
13 To him who divided the Red Sea in two,
for his mercy is eternal.
14 Who brought Israel through,
for his mercy is eternal.
15 And he hurled Pharaoh and his army into the Red Sea,
for his mercy is eternal.
16 To him who led his people in the desert,
for his mercy is eternal.
17 Who struck down great kings,
for his mercy is eternal.
18 And he destroyed mighty kings,
for his mercy is eternal.
19 Sihon, king of the Amorites,
for his mercy is eternal.
20 And Og, king of Bashan,
for his mercy is eternal.
21 Who gave their country as an inheritance,
for his mercy is eternal.
22 As an inheritance to Israel, his servant,
for his mercy is eternal.
23 To him who remembered us in our humiliation,
for his mercy is eternal.
24 And delivered us from our oppressors,
for his mercy is eternal.
25 To him who gives food to all living things,
for his mercy is eternal.
26 Praise the God of heaven,
for his mercy is eternal.
Psalm 137 (Vulg. CXXXVI)
1 By the rivers of Babylon
We were sitting and crying,
remembering Zion.
2 To the willows of its valleys
We had hung up our harps.
3 For there, those who held us captive were asking us
hymns and canticles,
our oppressors, the songs happy :
«"Sing us a hymn to Zion!"»
4 How shall we sing the song of Yahweh,
on foreign soil?
5 If I ever forget you, Jerusalem,
that my right hand forgets to move!…
6 Let my tongue cling to the roof of my mouth,
If I stop thinking about you,
if I don't include Jerusalem
at the forefront of my joys!
7 Remember, Yahweh, the children of Edom,
as for the day of Jerusalem,
They were saying, "Destroy it, destroy it,
"down to its very foundations!"»
8 Daughter of Babylon, doomed to ruin,
Happy is he who will give you
The harm you've done to us!
9 Blessed is the one who seizes and breaks
Your little children against the stone!
Psalm 138 (Vulg. CXXXVII)
1 Of David.
I want to praise you with all my heart.,
to sing to you on the harp, in the presence of the gods.
2 I want to bow down in your holy temple,
and celebrate your name,
because of your kindness and faithfulness,
because you made a wonderful promise,
above all the glories of your name.
3 On the day I called upon you, you answered me,
You have restored strength and courage to my soul.
4 All the kings of the earth will praise you, Yahweh,
when they have learned the oracles from your mouth.
5 They will celebrate the ways of Yahweh,
for the glory of Yahweh is great.
6 For Yahweh is exalted, and he looks kindly upon the humble,
And he knows the proud ones from afar.
7 If I walk in distress, you give me life,
you extend your hand to Stop the anger of my enemies,
and your right hand saves me.
8 Yahweh will complete what he did In my opinion.
Yahweh, your goodness is eternal:
Do not abandon the work of your hands!
Psalm 139 (Vulg. CXXXVIII)
1 To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David.
Yahweh, you search me and you me know,
2. You know when I'm sitting or standing,
You're discovering my thoughts from afar.
3 You observe me when I am walking or lying down,
and all my ways are familiar to you.
4 The word is not yet on my tongue,
that already, Yahweh, you know it entirely.
5 You surround me, forward and backward,
and you put your hand on me:
6. Science is too wonderful for me.,
It's too high for me to reach!
7 Where to go far from your mind,
Where can I flee from your presence?
8 If I ascend to heaven, you are there;
If I lie down in Sheol, there you are!
9 If I take the wings of dawn,
and that I’wing to live at the edge of the sea,
10 Here again your hand will guide me,
and your right hand will seize me.
11 And I said, “Surely the darkness will cover me,”,
and the night will be alone The light that surrounds me!…
12 Even darkness has no darkness for you;
for you the night shines like the day,
and darkness as well as light.
13 You are the one who formed my kidneys,
and who knitted me together in my mother's womb.
14 I praise you for having made me such a wonderful creature;
Your works are admirable,
and my soul delights in acknowledging it.
15 My substance was not hidden from you,
when I was being trained in secrecy,
artfully woven from the depths of the earth.
16 I was but a formless seed, and your eyes saw me,
and in your book were all written
the days that me’were intended,
before any of them existed yet.
17 O God, how delightful your thoughts seem to me!
What a large number!
18 If I count them, they outnumber grains of sand:
I wake up, and I'm still with you!
19 O God, will you not destroy the wicked?
Men of blood, stay away from me!
20 They speak about you in a criminal manner,
they take your name In vain, they, your enemies!
21 Must I not, Yahweh, hate those who hate you?,
To abhor those who rise up against you?
22 Yes, I hate them with a complete hatred,
They are enemies to me.
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart;
Test me, and know my thoughts.
24. See if I'm on a fatal path,
and lead me in the eternal way.
Psalm 140 (Vulg. CXXXIX)
1 To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David.
2 Yahweh, deliver me from the wicked man,
Protect me from violent men,
3 who plot evil in their heart,
who constantly incite war against me,
4 who sharpen their tongues like a serpent,
And who have The venom of the asp was beneath their lips. Sela.
5 Yahweh, keep me from the hands of the wicked,
Protect me from violent men,
who are plotting to make me stumble.
6 The proud have set a trap and a snare for me,
They place nets along my path.,
They are setting traps for me. Sela.
7 I say to Yahweh: You are my God!
Listen, Yahweh, to the voice of my supplications!
8 Lord Yahweh, my mighty savior,
You cover my head on the day of battle.
9 Yahweh, do not grant the desires of the wicked,
He doesn't let his plans succeed: he would be too proud! Sela.
10 May it be upon the heads of those who besiege me
the iniquity falls from their lips,
11 Let burning coals be shaken over them!
That God They plunge into the fire.,
in the abyss hence They never get up again!
12 No, The slanderer will not prosper on earth.,
And misfortune will relentlessly pursue the violent man.
13 I know that Yahweh gives justice to the afflicted,
And justice for the poor.
14 Yes, the righteous will celebrate your name,
and the upright will dwell in your presence.
Psalm 141 (Vulg. CXL)
1 Psalm of David.
Yahweh, I call upon you; hasten! become towards me;
Listen to my voice when I call upon you.
2 May my prayer be before you like the’incense,
and the raising of my hands like the’Evening offering!
3 Yahweh, set a guard over my mouth,
a sentinel at the door of my lips.
4 Do not incline my heart to evil things;
does not tilt it to engage in acts of wickedness
with men who commit iniquity;
that I take no part in their feasts!
5 Let the righteous strike me, it is a favor;
If he takes me back, it's like a perfume on my head;
My head won't reject it.,
because then I will only oppose my prayer against their evil designs.
6 But soon their leaders will be hurled down the rocks;
and they will listen to my words, for they are pleasing.
7 As when one plows and loosens the soil,
Thus our bones are scattered at the edge of Sheol.
8 For to you, Lord Yahweh, I turn my eyes;
I seek refuge in you: do not abandon my soul!
9 Protect me from the traps they set for me,
The traps set by those who do evil!
10 Let the wicked fall into their own traps,
and that I escape at the same time!
Psalm 142 (Vulg. CXLI)
1 A Psalm of David. When he was in the cave. A prayer.
2 With my voice I cry out to Yahweh,
with my voice I implore Yahweh;
3 I pour out my complaint in his presence,
I lay bare my distress before him.
4 When my mind fails within me,
you know my path;
You know that, on the road where I walk,
They are setting traps for me.
5. Take a look at my right and see:
Nobody recognizes me;
I lack any refuge.,
No one cares for my soul.
6 I cry out to you, Yahweh,
I say: You are my refuge,
My share on the land of the living!
7. Listen to my complaint,
because I am extremely unhappy;
Deliver me from those who persecute me,
because they are stronger than me.
8 Draw my soul from this prison,
so that I may celebrate your name;
The righteous will triumph with me
because of the good you will have done for me.
Psalm 143 (Vulg. CXLII)
1 Psalm of David.
Yahweh, hear my prayer;
lend an ear to my supplications;
Hear me in your truth And in your justice.
2 Do not enter into judgment with your servant,
because no living man is just before you.
3 The enemy is after my soul,
he tramples my life to the ground;
He relegates me to dark places,
like those who have been dead for a long time.
4 My mind fails within me,
My heart is troubled within me.
5 I think of days gone by,
I meditate on all your works,
I reflect on the work of your hands.
6 I stretch out my hands to you,
and my soul, like parched earth, sigh after you. Sela.
7 Hasten to answer me, Yahweh,
my mind is failing;
Don't hide your face from me.,
I am becoming like those who go down into the pit.
8 Let me feel your goodness early,
because it is in you that I place my hope;
Show me the way I should walk.,
for it is to you that I lift up my soul.
9 Deliver me from my enemies, Yahweh,
I take refuge with you.
10 Teach me to do your will,
because you are my God.
May your good spirit guide me on the right path!
11 For your name's sake, Yahweh, give me life;
In your righteousness, deliver my soul from distress.
12 In your goodness, destroy my enemies,
and destroy all those who oppress me,
for I am your servant.
Psalm 144 (Vulg. CXLIII)
1 Of David.
Blessed be Yahweh, my rock,
who trained my hands for battle,
and my fingers to the war,
2 my benefactor and my fortress,
my high retreat and my liberator,
my shield, the one who is my refuge,
who puts my people under me!
3 Yahweh, what is man that you are mindful of him?,
the son of man, so that you may take heed to him?
4 Man is like a breath,
His days are like a passing shadow.
5 Yahweh, bow down your heavens and come down;
touch the mountains, and let them catch fire;
6 Make the lightning flash, and scatter the enemies ;
Launch your arrows, and rout them.
7 Stretch out your hands from above,
Deliver me and save me from the great waters,
from the hands of foreigners,
8 whose mouths utter lies,
and whose right wing is a perjured right wing.
9 O God, I will sing you a new song,
I will celebrate you on the ten-stringed lute.
10 You who give victory to kings,
who saves David, your servant, from the deadly sword,
11 Deliver me and save me from the hand of the sons of foreigners,
whose mouth utters lies,
and whose right wing is a perjured right wing.
12 Let our sons, like seedlings vigorous,
They grow up in their youth!
May our daughters be like the cornerstones,
sculpted in the style of those of a temple!
13 May our granaries be filled,
and are overflowing with all sorts of provisions!
May our sheep, in our pastures,
multiply by the thousands and by the myriads!
14 May our heifers be fertile!
Let there be no breach or surrender in our walls!
No cry of alarm in our public squares!
15 Blessed are the people who enjoy these blessings!
Blessed are the people whose God is Yahweh!

4 His breath departs, he returns to his dust,
And, on that same day, his plans vanished.
5 Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob,
who puts her hope in Yahweh, her God!
6 Yahweh made heaven and earth,
the sea and everything it contains;

8 Yahweh opens the eyes of blind,
Yahweh raises up those who are bowed down.,

9 Yahweh protects the foreigners,
He supports the orphan and the widow;

10 Yahweh is king forever,
your God, O Zion, from age to age.

Psalm 147 (Vulg. CXLVI and CXLVII)
1 Alleluia — Praise Yahweh,
for it is good to praise our God,
because he is gentle, it is fitting to praise him.
2 Yahweh rebuilt Jerusalem,
He gathers the scattered people of Israel.
3 He heals the brokenhearted,
and he heals their wounds.
4. He counts the number of stars,
He calls them all by name.
5 Our Lord is great, and his power is infinite,
and his intelligence has no limits.
6 Yahweh comes to the aid of the humble,
He brings the wicked to their knees.
7 Sing to Yahweh a song of thanksgiving;
Praise our God on the harp!
8 He covers the skies with clouds,
and prepares the rain for the earth;
It makes grass grow on the mountains.
9 He gives food to the livestock,
to the crow chicks who cry towards him.
10 It is not in the horse's vigor that he finds pleasure,
nor in the legs of the man in whom he places his pleasure;
11 Yahweh delights in those who fear him,
in those who hope in his goodness.
12 Jerusalem, celebrates Yahweh;
Zion, praise your God.
13 For he strengthens the bars of your gates,
He blesses your sons in your midst;
14 he assures peace at your borders,
It satisfies you with the finest wheat.
15 He sends his orders to the earth;
His speech travels fast.
16 He makes the snow fall like wool,
It spreads frost like ash.
17 He throws his ice cubes in pieces:
Who can withstand its frost?
18 He sends out his word, and he melts them;
He makes his wind blow, and the waters flow.
19 It was he who revealed his word to Jacob,
his laws and ordinances to Israel.
20 He did not do the same for all the others nations;
They don't know his prescriptions.
Hallelujah!
